Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has assigned an "AA-" long-term rating on Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Health System's series 2016 bonds.
The rating assignment is based on a number of factors, including strong operating margins for fiscal year 2015 and through the first half of fiscal year 2016.
The outlook is stable, reflecting UPHS' emergence as one of the strongest providers in a competitive service area.
