A long-delayed hospital in rural Arkansas is due to open Jan. 10 now that it has received its state license, the hospital's CEO told Becker's.
Sevier County Medical Center in De Queen, Ark., was due to open Dec. 6, but problems with the nurses' call system delayed the licensing process. The hospital was initially approved by voters in 2019 when they chose to increase their taxes to help fund the hospital, which will have 15 inpatient beds and a 10-room emergency department.
"It is a big relief," CEO Lori House said. "Our community is so ready."
The hospital, which is now waiting only on formal approval for prescribing and dispensing pharmaceuticals, will be helped with its opening costs by a $6.25 million grant making its way through the state legislature.
