Indian Health Service Rosebud (S.D.) Hospital's emergency department resumed operations Friday after being shuttered for more than seven months.
The hospital's ED was closed last December after CMS identified a number of patient safety issues at the facility.
"The restoration of emergency department services at the Indian Health Service Rosebud Hospital is a great milestone for our patients and the community," said Mary Smith, IHS principal deputy director.
While shut down, the ED underwent renovations and the IHS repaired and replaced equipment and upgraded technology systems to support effective medical records documentation through the IHS electronic health record.
Although the hospital's ED is once again open for service, its surgical and obstetrics departments are still closed. Those departments shut down in June.
