Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo signed an executive order Feb. 6 to keep annual healthcare cost growth under 3.2 percent through 2022, according the Providence Journal.
The executive order directs the Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the state health insurance commissioner's office to engage insurers, providers and other community partners to come together and devise strategies to help lower costs for consumers.
"Enhanced transparency and shared accountability for a healthcare spending target can be used to accelerate changes in our healthcare delivery system, creating benefits for employers, state government, and Rhode Islanders," the executive order said.
