RCM tip of the day: Put bots to work on your claim denials

Hospital revenue cycle management teams should use robotic process automation to research the reason for an insurance claim denial, advised Jeff Nieman, CEO of Meduit, a revenue cycle solutions company.

While a generic "claim denied" status from  an insurer offers no information on claim denials to make corrections, robotic process automation uses web bots to search the payer's website  for more nsight and actionable information, Mr. Nieman said.

"To ensure that you are getting thorough information regarding claim denial inquiries, make sure your RCM support team is actively employing robotic process automation via web bots to glean information from payer websites and not simply relying on HIPAA transaction sets," said Mr. Nieman.
