Commonwealth Cornerstone Group, a nonprofit community development entity that administers New Markets Tax Credits, has announced $8 million in tax credits will be used to help pay for the expansion and consolidation of healthcare services provided by Sharon, Pa.-based Primary Health Network.
PHN, a federally qualified health center, offers services out of seven buildings, but will be able to serve more patients once a new building in downtown Sharon is complete, according to the report. The building will have an urgent care center with extended hours on the first floor, along with expanded obstetrics and gynecological services. Additionally, complimentary medical services will be available in the building thanks to a cooperative agreement with a regional hospital, according to the report.
"The consolidated headquarters and healthcare facility for Primary Health Network will not only directly benefit its patients but will positively impact the entire region by adding jobs and promoting economic development," Brian A. Hudson Sr., CCG chairman and executive director of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, said in the report.
"This project will allow Primary Health Network to more than double the number of patient appointments they handle, expanding their healthcare outreach."
