Albuquerque, N.M.-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services, the largest employer in the state, is building a $135 million hospital and outpatient facility in Santa Fe, N.M., according to The Santa Fe New Mexican.
The facility will help expand Presbyterian's footprint in Santa Fe. Last April, the health system opened a smaller medical clinic in Santa Fe, and already has plans to expand it.
Presbyterian's new complex will be roughly 8.5 times the size of the medical clinic and will be built on a 40-acre piece of land Presbyterian has owned since 2008. Presbyterian anticipates it will be complete by early 2018, according to Helen Brooks, Presbyterian's Santa Fe community administrator, according to the report. Ms. Brooks added that the complex will be a "new concept health center," with a heavier emphasis on the outpatient experience.
Presbyterian's only other competition in the Santa Fe market is the city's longstanding general hospital, CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.
