The majority of Americans support government action to curb the prices of brand name prescription drugs, according to a poll by Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and STAT.
The poll found bipartisan support for allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies for its enrollees. While just two out of 10 respondents said drug prices are a major concern to them personally, roughly seven in 10 respondents said they support letting Medicare negotiate prices for all prescription drugs.
However, survey participants did not emphasize any particular proposal to lower drug costs; rather, they indicated the general opinion that some action should be taken. Respondents didn't give either political party an advantage in this issue, according to the report.
