Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett declined the option to build and run a state-controlled health insurance exchange in a statement Wednesday, adding his name to the growing list of Republican governors who have opted to let the federal government take on the task.
Twenty-eight states have opted for a federally-operated exchange, though the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that requires the exchanges allows states to take or relinquish control of the exchange each year.
"It would be irresponsible to put Pennsylvanians on the hook for an unknown amount of money to operate a system under rules that have not been fully written," Gov. Corbett said in the release.
