Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth has started off its fiscal 2024 with a $36.3 million operating loss in the first quarter.
The first-quarter loss, for the period ending Sept. 30, was on the back of improved revenue totaling $823.1 million. And while pre-tax operating expenses were lower, the post-tax loss came in at the $36.3 million figure. That compared with a first-quarter 2023 loss of $61.2 million.
Overall income for the first quarter resulted in a net loss of $44 million compared with a loss of $82.2 million in the same period last year.
PeaceHealth, which has been in the headlines recently for the controversial closure of its hospital in Eugene, Ore., also reported a deficit of revenues over expenses totaling $70 million for the 12 months ending Sept. 30.
