Nonprofit Orlando (Fla.) Health reported a $41.5 million operating surplus for the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2014, up from the $2.7 million surplus it reported for the same period last year.
The system's revenue increased to $556 million in the fourth quarter, up from $496.8 million in the same period one year ago. The increase in revenue was partially attributable to the system's acquisition of a 25.6 percent controlling interest in University Surgical Center in Winter Park, Fla.
In addition, as a result of the surgical center acquisition, Orlando Health's net patient service revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014 was $562 million compared to $513.7 million in the same period of last year.
