Ohio Gov. John Kasich has proposed legislation that would factor quality measures into future state Medicaid payments.
Proposed changes under Gov. Kasich's Mid-biennium Budget Review would call for quality component to be developed in partnership with the Ohio Hospital Association and other stakeholders.
"Ohio hospitals are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to all patients, including those served by the Medicaid program. The Ohio Hospital Association looks forward to working with the state to develop incentives to reward high performing hospitals. With Medicare and private insurers moving toward value-based purchasing, it makes sense for the state to provide hospitals with the opportunity to receive Medicaid incentives for high quality as well," said Mike Abrams, OHA president and CEO.
