Ohio Hospitals Provided $2.9B in Community Benefits in 2009

Ohio hospitals extended $2.9 billion in community benefits in 2009, according to an Ohio Hospital Association release.

The $2.9 billion in hospitals' annual community benefits includes $1.1 billion in charity care, $1.1 billion in Medicaid subsidization and $1.3 billion in community benefit activities.

The 2011 report uses 2009 data, the most recent year for which data is available. One-hundred sixty-nine hospitals participated in the report.
