Cincinnati-based TriHealth is pausing its billing for patients affected by the partial U.S. government shutdown, according to a Cincinnati Business Courier report.
System spokesperson Mike Mattingly said federal workers who notify the medical office reception desk that they are government employees are eligible for financial assistance under the system's charity care policy. TriHealth also won't bill affected federal workers for care until the shutdown is over, according to the report.
"Federal workers should continue to seek needed care during the shutdown, and we are committed to providing assistance," Mr. Mattingly told Becker's.
TriHealth is a nonprofit system formed through a partnership between Good Samaritan Hospital and Bethesda Hospital. It has five hospitals and more than 130 locations.
