New York hospital to cut services as part of critical access bid

Warsaw, N.Y.-based Wyoming County Community Hospital filed plans to take nearly half of its 62 beds off its operating certificate as it looks to meet critical access hospital requirements, local news outlet WGRZ reported June 26.

If the plan is approved, the hospital will be left with five intensive care unit beds, 20 medical beds and 10 beds in its psychiatric unit. Cutting the services will open the hospital to new sources of federal funding.

Malone, N.Y.-based Alice Hyde Medical Center is also applying to become a critical access hospital.
