New York allocates $7.9M in funding for new hospital in Hornellsville

The state of New York awarded $7.9 million in funding to Hornell, N.Y.-based St. James Mercy Hospital to support the construction of its planned new facility, according to the Evening Tribute.

The $7.9 million is a portion of the $491 million Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program, which aims to expand access to inpatient care, reduce healthcare costs and improve health outcomes in the state.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the gift on Wednesday, stating "While others seek to decimate our hospitals and reduce access to quality healthcare, we are investing to help ensure a stronger, healthier New York for all."

The state funding comes in addition to previous donations totaling $54.9 million for the new facility and new EHR system.

The new facility will be located in Hornellsville, N.Y., and construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2017.
