The chairman and former CEO of Bayada Home Health, which is based in New Jersey, is giving his 32,000 employees $20 million.
Here are four things to know:
1. Mark Baiada is in the process of turning his billion-dollar company into a nonprofit. The decision to turn the company into a nonprofit was to protect it from a sale and try to ensure that it keeps fulfilling its mission.
2. The $20 million gift will be split up between registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, home health aides, therapists, associates, client services managers, clinical managers, office support and other staff among the ten specialties across the 22 states where Bayada Home Health operates.
3. Long-tenured physical therapists will take home checks of about $8,500 and veteran nurses will take home about $7,000.
4. "This gift is a token of my appreciation, in hopes that it helps every Bayada employee to understand just how important they are to Bayada and to our lasting legacy vision of being the world’s most compassionate and trusted team of home healthcare professionals," Mr. Baiada said.
