Orlando, Fla.-based Nemours Children's Health has received a $2 million donation toward the renovation of its cancer center on behalf of The Players Championship, an annual golf tournament, Action News Jax reported Oct. 22.
The donation marked the launch of the health system's Hand in Hand fundraising campaign to support the upgrade of its Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
The Players Championship has also agreed to match all funds raised dollar for dollar in addition to their donation.
Larry Moss, MD, president and CEO of Nemours Children's Health, told the news outlet that oncology patients at the facility have doubled over the last decade. The center saw 2,300 patients in 2021 and has 200 patients receiving treatment at any given time, Dr. Moss said.
