Almost nine out of 10 hospital bills contain at least minor errors, according to Newsmax.
A new study from Medliminal Health Solutions found nearly 90 percent of hospital bills contain some kind of error, which they say could be related to the increased complications that come from medical coding standards and administrators' lack of familiarity with them.
Listed below are the eight most common billing errors identified in the study.
- Duplicate charges
- Canceled tests or procedures
- Incorrect patient information
- Unbundling of charges
- In-network balance billing
- Incorrect quantities of medications and other items
- Operating room and anesthesia time
- Upcoding to inflate diagnosis
