Providers are increasingly adopting revenue cycle and contract management processes that can handle more advanced capabilities, like real-time identification and tracking value-based care conditions, according to trends highlighted by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.
CHIME found that from 2018-19, implementation of advanced revenue cycle capabilities increased as more providers transition to value-based care. Adoption of real-time identification and tracking of value-based conditions was up 11 percentage points, while distribution and management of bundled payments was up 8 percentage points.
However, "for most other capabilities, the increase in adoption was substantially less," CHIME noted. "While improvements have been made, adoption is still insufficient to drive significant market changes."
