Moody's Investors Service has affirmed the "Baa1" rating on Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance's outstanding debt.
The rating affirmation was supported by a number of factors, including the 13-hospital system's improved financial performance and leading market position in its 29-county service area.
The system also faces some challenges, which were considered for the rating affirmation, such as having a very high leverage position.
