Missouri Medicaid Faces Lawsuit From Managed Care Provider

Molina Healthcare, a Medicaid managed care provider, is suing Missouri over the state's recent decision to dole out managed care services, according to a Columbia Daily Tribune report.

In February, the state awarded Medicaid managed care contracts totaling $1.1 billion to only three health plans: Centene Corp., Missouri Care and Health Care USA. Officials at Molina alleged Commissioner of Administration Doug Nelson improperly limited the number of companies that could receive a contract and changed the requirements, according to the report.

Open enrollment for Medicaid beneficiaries begins April 16. The state did not comment on any issues involved in the lawsuit.
