CMS wants feedback on its Merit-based Incentive Payment System by June 1.
Here are five things to know:
1. In its Annual Call for Quality Measures, CMS requested feedback from clinicians, professional associations and medical societies, researchers and consumer groups on new quality measures.
2. CMS is especially interested in adding measures that relate to the following six areas: clinical care, patient safety, care coordination, caregiver-centered outcomes, population health and cost reduction.
3. Physicians can submit proposed quality measures in JIRA, an online portal. The submission session opened in late February. Access the JIRA portal here.
4. CMS will publish its annual list of measures for MIPS physicians in the Federal Register by Nov. 1 for the 2019 program year.
5. The call for feedback comes as the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission recommended to axe MIPS in its semiannual report on Medicare payment policy to Congress.
