Middlesex Hospital recorded its 32nd straight year of positive operating income in fiscal 2022 even as the Middletown, Conn.-based system faced the familiar challenges of supply chain issues and a tight labor market.
Describing the year ending Sept. 30 as "very challenging," Middlesex reported Jan. 19 an operating gain of $18.35 million. Patient revenues totaled $1.48 billion, up from $1.42 billion in fiscal 2021.
The hospital, which has 275 licensed beds plus 22 pediatric beds, was awarded a top four-star rating in March for its patient experience performance, one of only five hospitals in Connecticut to be so categorized.
While the hospital is the flagship location of the system, Middlesex also has other specialized medical centers.
