Coldwater, Ohio-based Mercer Health is planning a major expansion project expected to begin in 2017.
The three-story addition will be directly connected to the existing west entrance of the current hospital. The new space will add 54,000 square feet, including a new surgical suite, private inpatient rooms and increased space for outpatient services.
The project will cost approximately $24 million, according to The Daily Standard.
"In order to continue to meet the healthcare needs of the community, an expansion project is necessary," said Mindy Kramer, senior director of development, marketing and community relations. "Surgical services have seen nearly 25 percent growth in the past two years. Currently, the surgery department is located in the original 1950 building. The expansion will meet the needs of the surgical volume growth by providing adequate space and improved functioning."
