MemorialCare lays off 72 workers across 2 hospitals

Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare has laid off 72 positions due to restructuring efforts across its Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center and Long Beach, Calif.-based Miller Children's and Women's Hospital.

The layoffs include 13 positions at Long Beach Medical Center's outpatient retail pharmacy, which is closing Feb. 2, a spokesperson for MemorialCare said in a statement shared with Becker's.

Employees affected by the layoffs include numerous operations, department and unit directors and managers, along with certain ancillary support positions.

"Those persons whose positions have been eliminated have been offered appropriate severance, including health plan benefits for an extended period," the spokesperson said.
