Odessa, Texas-based Medical Center Health System will transition to a Cerner revenue cycle management platform in September, according to OA Online.
Last year, the health system implemented a Cerner EHR system. With the new revenue cycle operations platform, MCHS will collaborate with a single vendor for its IT and revenue cycle functions.
"This collaboration will facilitate the optimization of our revenue cycle and billing functions going forward and fits in with the goal of system wide quality improvement," MCHS President and CEO Robert Abernethy said, according to the report. "The coordination between MCHS and Cerner RevWorks and ITWorks will assist in reducing billing and collection issues that we have experienced in the past."
After installing the Cerner EHR, MCHS experienced issues with billing and recovering revenue. By moving to Cerner's revenue cycle platform, the health system aims to integrate patients' health records and billing information more seamlessly, the publication reports.
MCHS comprises a 402-bed hospital as well as multiple clinics throughout the state.
