The upcoming closure of Bay City, Mich.-based McLaren Bay Special Care, a long-term acute care hospital part of Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care, will result in 43 layoffs, according to a WARN notice filed Oct. 24.
The health system shared plans in late October to close the hospital Dec. 22 and build a multispecialty outpatient campus.
McLaren is working to offer hospital employees affected other positions in the organization, a spokesperson for the health system said in a Nov. 19 statement shared with Becker's.
"To date, several have accepted positions and many others have been offered positions or are interviewing, while others have voluntarily decided to seek employment elsewhere," the statement said. "Others, too, are employed on a contingent basis and currently have employment elsewhere."
The health system anticipates all patients will be discharged by the Dec. 22 closure of the hospital.
