Mountain View, Calif.-based El Camino Hospital billed Daniel Duarte $2,272 for a four-day stay at the hospital in December 2017. However, Mr. Duarte claims he was never admitted to the hospital — and has never visited or seen a physician at the facility, according to NBC Bay Area.
Mr. Duarte told the television station that in February, he received a $2,272 bill from the hospital for a four-day stay at the facility in December. He said he and his family contacted the hospital immediately, stating the bill must be a mistake, as he was enjoying time at his home with his family during the alleged admission.
Family members of Mr. Duarte told NBC Bay Area they spoke with a hospital representative, who said the hospital investigated and resolved the issue. However, Mr. Duarte proceeded to receive two more bills for the alleged stay.
NBC Bay Area called the hospital on Mr. Duarte's behalf and was told by officials El Camino Hospital could not comment on the situation due to patient privacy laws. Roughly one day after NBC Bay Area got involved, the hospital reportedly contacted Mr. Duarte and promised to remove the bill without hurting his credit report, according to the report.
