Maine Medical Center in Portland has received the largest gift from a family in its history — a $7.5 million pledge from the Coulombe family, according to Mainebiz magazine.
In recognition of the donation, Maine Medical Center will rename its East Tower the Coulombe Family Tower. An expansion of the tower is expected to be completed late this year.
Another family, inspired by the Columbe family, also donated $3 million to the hospital. Linda and Diana Bean will have a new heliport named after them.
