Maine hospital files for bankruptcy, closes inpatient facilities

Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick, Maine, has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to a WCHS6 report.

The hospital, which has been struggling financially for years, closed its inpatient care facilities and emergency department June 18. Those services will be moved to Brunswick, Maine-based Mid Coast Health Services — a system Parkview is attempting to merge with.

Parkview has about 180 full-time employees, and Mid Coast anticipates it will be able to employ all of them, according to the report.
