Lee Health could spend up to $1.3B on building, equipment costs through 2027

Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health may spend $1.34 billion on building and equipment costs to keep pace with the state's increasing and aging population over the next decade, according to News Press.

An internal report concluded that Lee Health will need 1,414 adult beds available to meet increasing demand, which is 265 more than the health system currently uses.

About half of the $1.34 billion will go toward routine maintenance of buildings and equipment, while the other half will be allocated for renovations or expansions in hospitals and clinics.

"It is a large amount over 10 years, but I have confidence in our ability to manage it," Ben Spence, chief business officer and CFO of Lee Health, told News Press.
