Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare reported a $301 million operating surplus on nearly $5.57 billion of revenue in 2014.
The system's 5.4 percent operating margin for 2014 was down from a 7.8 percent operating margin the year prior.
Intermountain's patient service revenue increased to $3.41 billion in 2014, up from $3.32 billion in 2013. Revenue from the health system's insurance arm also increased in 2014.
However, the system's expenses also grew last year, increasing to nearly $4.99 billion in 2014, up from $4.34 billion in 2013.
The system's net surplus fell to $431 million last year from $766.3 million in 2013.
