Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health reported an operating income of $326 million (3.8% margin) over the first half of 2024, up from an operating income of $184 million (2.3% margin) over the same period last year, according to its Aug. 28 financial report.
Intermountain posted revenues of $8.5 billion in the six months ended June 30, up from $7.9 billion posted over the same period in 2023. Patient service revenues were $5.1 billion, up from $4.7 billion.
The health system reported $7.8 billion in expenses in the first half of 2024, up from $7.4 billion posted over the same period last year. Employee compensation and benefits totaled $3.6 billion, up from $3.4 billion. Supply expenses totaled $1.5 billion, up from $1.4 billion. Medical claims totaled $1.5 billion, up from $1.3 billion.
After accounting for nonoperating items such as investment income, Intermountain reported a net income of $1.12 billion for the first six months of 2024, up from $1.06 billion over the same period last year.
