Inside Nemours Children's $430M investment in Florida and Delaware

Nemours Children's Health is investing $300 million in central Florida over the next four years and $130 million in Delaware in 2025.

In Orlando, Fla., the health system's plans include three new buildings on the Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, campus, according to a Dec. 17 news release.

The first building is a 110,000-square-foot expansion of the pediatric hospital, to be completed in 2028. The expansion will double the size of the emergency department, increase space for the hospital's imaging department, and add new inpatient beds and observation rooms.

The second building is a new 75,000-square-foot facility, scheduled for 2028. The patient care center will house an expanded surgery center with six new operating rooms and new patient exam rooms.

The third building, to be completed in 2027, will house a new 75,000-square-foot administrative facility, which will include an 800-space parking garage.

In Delaware, Nemours Children's Health will expand its advanced delivery program at Wilmington-based Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware, into a maternal and fetal health program, according to a separate Dec. 17 news release.

Additionally, Nemours will expand its neonatology, cancer and cardiology programs, while revitalizing the historic Institute building on the Alfred I. duPont Campus, part of its Delaware campus.

All together, the $130 million investment will represent the system's largest one-year capital investment in Delaware, according to the health system.

Nemours Children's Health, a pediatric health system operated by The Nemours Foundation, includes two freestanding children's hospitals and a network of more than 70 primary and specialty care practices.
