Indiana TV station joins forces with charity to forgive patients' medical debt

FOX59 reported it has teamed up with RIP Medical Debt, a charity that buys and forgives medical debt for patients in need.

Through the partnership, the Indianapolis-based TV station and New York City-based charity seek to erase medical debt for hundreds of patients.

People can donate to RIP on the FOX59 website. The donations go directly to the charity.

The charity said it cannot specify whose medical debt is being erased through donations, as medical debt is bundled for pennies on the dollar. Medical debt is relieved randomly for patients. According to RIP, a $100 donation can forgive $10,000 in medical debt.

More information on RIP is available here.
