Indiana church wipes out $3.6M in medical debt

Northview Church in Carmel, Ind., raised $20,000 to help pay off more than $3.6 million in medical debt, according to The Denver Channel.

The church's leader, senior pastor Steve Poe, told The Denver Channel the donation will affect at least 2,500 people.

Northview Church is buying 30 percent of all the medical debt in seven Indiana zip codes. The church worked with RIP Medical Debt, a charity that buys and forgives medical debt for pennies on the dollar, to buy the debt for a fraction of the original amount.
