How St. Joseph Healthcare in Maine Recouped $153k Through the Revenue Cycle

St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor, Maine, recently set out to improve its revenue cycle through two goals — creating more accurate claims and capturing all relevant charges — and it eventually led the 112-bed community hospital to big savings.

After St. Joseph Healthcare implemented Craneware's chargemaster management tools, revenue cycle professionals were able to identify and recoup $153,000 in lost charges. Specifically, hospital officials found that they missed a code/charge within the radiology department over eight months due to an upgrade in software.

"Many hospitals wonder if the revenue is really there to be recovered," Lisa Killam, St. Joseph's reimbursement charge supervisor, said in the case study. "Our experience at St. Joseph proves that it is."
