Critical access hospitals have little time left to apply for EHR Medicare payment adjustment exceptions, according to a CMS notice.
Exceptions are available for eligible critical access hospitals that did not achieve meaningful use in the Medicare EHR Program.
CMS said critical access hospitals can avoid the Medicare downward payment adjustments if they show meeting meaningful use requirements would create a significant hardship. Hospitals can apply for a hardship exception through Dec. 2.
