A hospital operator based in Kansas City, Mo., has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to a WXII report.
HMC/CAH Consolidated owns and operates 12 hospitals in several states, including Drumright (Okla.) Regional Hospital, Hillsboro (Kan.) Community Hospital and Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, N.C.
According to the news report, HMC/CAH officials blame the bankruptcy protection filing on the bad economy.
