The Healthcare Financial Management Association inducted Kevin Brennan, retiring CFO of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System, as chair of its board of directors.
Here are four things to know about the induction:
1. Mr. Brennan began his position for the 2018-19 term on June 1. As board chair, he will lead HFMA's 37,000 members under the theme "Imagine Tomorrow." The 2018-19 theme focuses on developing innovative ways to improve access, quality and cost in healthcare.
2. For the past 23 years, Mr. Brennan served as the executive vice president of finance and CFO of Geisinger, becoming the longest-serving CFO in Geisinger's 103-year history. He helped the $7 billion organization earn numerous accolades for financial leadership.
3. After retiring from Geisinger June 30, Mr. Brennan will join SunStone Consulting to assist clients with reimbursement, regulatory, revenue integrity and strategy solutions.
4. Mr. Brennan's experience with HFMA extends back to 1981 when he became an active member of the organization. Since then, he has served on the organization's Principles and Practices Board and its Patient Transparency Task Force.
