Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University, University of California San Francisco and Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan all received more than $500 million in National Institutes of Health funding in fiscal year 2017, according to the NIH Web-based tool.
The NIH tracks the funding of critical medical research and other support at universities, hospitals, small businesses and other organizations. It maintains this information in an online database.
