Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System posted a financial surplus of $15.25 million for the nine months ended Sept. 30, down from $16.49 million for the same period of last year, according to the system's unaudited financial statements.
The system's revenue for the first nine months of this year was $3.46 billion, up from $3.41 billion in the same period of 2013, with inpatient service revenue falling from $1.59 billion in the first nine months of last year to $1.57 billion in the same period of this year.
Henry Ford's expenses also increased to $3.59 billon during the nine months ended Sept. 30, up from $3.41 billion in the same period of last year, with supplies expenses increasing more than 9 percent.
