Healthcare spending package heads to Senate

The Senate is set to consider a package of six appropriation bills this week that includes certain provisions related to healthcare, according to the American Hospital Association. 

The provisions would:

  • Eliminate Medicaid disproportionate share hospital cuts for fiscal year 2024 and delay FY 2025 DSH cuts to Jan. 1, 2025.

  • Extend the Medicare-dependent hospital and enhanced low-volume hospital programs through December 2024.

  • Reduce the 3.34% physician pay cut that took effect Jan. 1.

  • Extend the Community Health Centers, National Health Service Corps. and Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education programs through December.

The House voted 339-85 to pass the package on March 6.
