Net income at Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America rose 14 percent during the second quarter of this year, from $423 million in the second quarter of 2013 to $483 million this year.
Revenues in the second quarter totaled $9.23 billion, up 9.2 percent from $8.45 billion in the second quarter of 2013. Adjusted EBITDA also increased by 18.5 percent, from $1.69 billion in the second quarter of 2013 to $2 billion this year. Same-facility revenue per equivalent admission also increased 5.4 percent in the second quarter of this year.
For the six months ended June 30, HCA reported $830 million in net income, up 8 percent from $767 million in the first six months of 2013. Revenues during the first six months of 2014 also increased by about 1 percent, from $16.89 billion during the first half of 2013 to $18.06 billion this year. Adjusted EBITDA for the six months ended June 30 was $3.64 billion, up nearly 12 percent year-over-year from $3.26 billion.
