Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital received a $10 million gift from the Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group to establish The Allen Discovery Center for Human Brain Evolution, according to the Boston Globe.
The Allen Discovery Center is a joint initiative of the two medical institutions to research the human brain. It will allow researchers in neuronal molecular biology, genetics and genomics to distinguish what makes humans unique.
"[The grant] forces interactions between people doing very good work in their own separate areas," Christopher A. Walsh, MD, PhD, chief of the Division of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children's Hospital, told the Boston Globe.
