Los Angeles-based Good Samaritan Hospital received a $21 million donation from Charles Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and chairman of the hospital, to support the hospital's expansion and renovation project.
The gift will help fund seismic improvements to the facility as well as the hospital's emergency department upgrade, which will include adding 12 additional beds and an expanded waiting area.
"We are so grateful for the leadership Mr. Munger demonstrates daily. This gift is a marvelous acknowledgement of his commitment to our patients, physicians, staff, volunteers, and to the Good Samaritan Hospital community in Los Angeles," said Andrew Leeka, president and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital.
