Georgia Hospitals Provide $38B to State's Economy

As Georgia's unemployment rate lingered around 10 percent in 2010, Georgia hospitals generated roughly $38 billion to the state's economy, according to a report from the Georgia Hospital Association.


Georgia hospitals also provided $1.5 billion in uncompensated care in 2010, a jump of roughly $46 million from 2009. This spike in charity care also led to 34 percent of state hospitals reporting a negative operating margin.
