Georgia hospital's new RCM tool leads to $5.4M boost in cash collections

Augusta (Ga.) University Medical Center expanded partnership with revenue cycle software company AccuReg has increased point-of-service collections to $9 million, $5.4 million more than expected.

Initially, the hospital had projected point-of-service collections to be at $3.6 million, according to a March 6 AccuReg news release. The company's revenue cycle software is designed to integrate with top EHR vendors.

"Improving the patient access experience was a system-wide goal for us and we were committed to changing how we approached payment," Sherri Creech, AUMC assistant vice president of patient access services, said in the release. "AccuReg not only provided the tool we needed for accurate information upfront about patient financial responsibility, but also helped us train staff who hadn't been adequately prepared for collecting at preregistration or registration."
