For-profit operator to close Texas health center, lay off 158

Nix Specialty Health Center will close within 30 days as Prospect Medical Holdings consolidates its behavioral health services in San Antonio, according to local TV station KSAT.

Some Nix Specialty Health Center patients may be transferred to Nix Behavioral Health Center in San Antonio, which will remain open, a spokesperson for Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings told KSAT.

When the health center closes, 158 employees will lose their jobs, according to the report.

Prospect Medical Holdings is also closing Nix Medical Center, a 208-bed hospital in San Antonio, and its entire home health unit. Prospect Medical Holdings confirmed the hospital's closure Sept. 3, but has not confirmed the precise date.
